Admission Requirements

Students applying to the University of Thessaly School of Medicine have two pathways for entry: exemption based on qualifications or an entrance exam.

For students seeking exemption, you must present one of the following:

  • BMAT, MediTest-EU, or A-Levels with final results (predicted grades are not accepted) of at least AAB in Chemistry, Biology, and another subject other than English.

Additionally, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. The minimum required scores are:

  • IELTS: B2 (with an overall band score no lower than 6).
  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 79/120.

Students who do not meet the exemption criteria are required to take an entrance exam.

Entrance Exam

For those taking the entrance exam, it covers three core areas at the IB level: biology, chemistry, and general knowledge. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions (20 for each subject) and is administered online under strict supervision. Proctors monitor the exam through camera feeds to maintain academic integrity, ensuring a fair and secure process.

Interview

If you meet the academic requirements or successfully pass the entrance exam, the next step is an interview. The goal is to assess your motivations, character, academic achievements, and personal interests.

During the interview, you can expect questions such as:

  • Why medicine?
  • Why not nursing or another healthcare profession?
  • In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good doctor?
  • What is your greatest strength and weakness?
  • Why have you chosen the University of Thessaly?

Additionally, be prepared to discuss any extracurricular activities or hobbies mentioned in your personal statement. This is an opportunity to stand out, as the committee is interested in your well-roundedness and passions beyond academics. The interview is conducted via video call, so ensure you are prepared for the virtual format.

Tuition Fees & Scholarships

Tuition fees for the English-language medical program at the University of Thessaly are set at €12,000 per year.

Unlike other universities, the University of Thessaly does not offer scholarships, so students should plan accordingly for the duration of their studies.

“Awesome feedback on what can be improved for my interview skills and strategies on what I can do to improve them.“
